I never pictured myself working in a warehouse, in an all-male environment, and wearing steel toe boots, but it's been really cool, like working with brothers. They always help me and encourage me on the saws and other machines. They'll say, "Jennifer, you got this!"
After less than a year, I was offered a team leader position, so now I'm responsible for five people, as well as a lot of ordering and inventory. My skill set has grown and I hope to expand it even more by learning to weld. My advice to a new person would be, be proactive if you want to get ahead. There's plenty of room for growth if you have the right attitude and look at the big picture.
